Kudos to Kevin Sorbo
[Regarding “Hercules’ Heroic Recovery,” in our February issue:] Thank you for the insightful and inspiring interview with Kevin Sorbo. Playing Hercules must really have rubbed off on Mr. Sorbo, though it’s more likely that his strong will and character was developed, as he says, by learning from his father about the value of hard work.
Mr. Sorbo has been through a tremendous ordeal, yet he has emerged healthy, strong and with a positive world outlook very much intact. I was particularly struck by this comment from Mr. Sorbo: “It really came down to me just pushing myself and constantly putting myself in situations that I knew would make me more wiped out. I took it upon myself ... to not let this beat me.”
I have suffered some difficult challenges in my life, too. However, after reading your interview with Kevin Sorbo, I will take a breath and consider the resources I can call upon to overcome any challenges that come my way. Mr. Sorbo’s ordeal, and the way he successfully navigated it, is evidence that we carry the strength we need.
[Regarding “Alternative Healthcare Options” in our January Wellness Watch section:] Yoga therapy is one of the most versatile options patients have. It has alleviated back pain, lowered blood pressure and helped patients heal after surgery. In fact, it can help so many people: Those looking to slow the effects of aging, injured athletes who want to get back in the game, clients battling eating disorders and addictions. Yoga encompasses the entire person by addressing the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual elements necessary for complete healing. And yoga is for everyone, from the very young to elderly patients in nursing homes.
