Super issue in January, especially the article on Gwyneth Paltrow. What a great role model!

Yoga for Cramps
Regarding “Kicking Cramps” (Malady Makeover, October 2012): I stopped getting leg cramps when I started doing Bikram Yoga 10 years ago. I think key exercises are ankle lifts to build the calf muscles, followed by calf stretches.
Salt Lake City, Utah
Bikram, commonly known as “hot room yoga,” is a 26-posture sequence done in rooms heated to a minimum of 105°. The idea, according to www.bikramyoga.com, is that “a warm body is a flexible body” and that the heat intensifies yoga’s detoxification effects and its ability to subtly reshape bodily tissues. See the website to find an instructor certified in the Bikram method.
I’m interested in spirulina. How much is considered a daily intake? I have used it as part of a facial mask and it does wonders when used topically.
A blue-green algae, spirulina provides protein, carotenoids, vitamin B12, iron, calcium and magnesium. In addition, it supplies gamma linolenic acid, which has anti-inflammatory properties.
Spirulina is a popular addition to shake powders and to a variety of whole-food supplements. It is also available in tablet form. There is no recommended daily intake for spirulina, but amounts used commonly range from 500 milligrams to 6 grams.
